If you're into plants that don't move and flowers that don't judge, the Albany Wildflower Show is on from Wednesday 24th to Saturday 27th September 2025 at St John's Hall on York Street. They've got all sorts of things for the garden enthusiast or just the mildly curious – local wildflower and fungus brochures (because who doesn't want to know what's growing nearby?), everlasting flowers that won't wilt on you, and even locally grown plants if you fancy giving your backyard a botanical boost. There are also books and some extra bits and pieces for sale, perfect if you like to bring a little green chaos home.

Good news for anyone rolling along on wheels: the venue is wheelchair accessible, so no squeezing through bushes required. It costs five fifty to get in, but if you're a kid, you're in for free – you can spend your allowance on a plant instead. The show opens at nine every morning and wraps up at four, except Thursday when they keep going an hour later, presumably to give the plants a bit more limelight.
