Get ready to dive into the artistic legacy of the Brierleys, a family that made quite a splash in Albany's cultural scene back in the mid-1900s. Kitty Brierley, born in 1903 and a notable figure until her passing in 1979, clearly inherited some serious creative genes from her father, Benjamin. This English chap, who ventured to Australia in the late 1800s, was responsible for setting Kitty on her artistic journey. Together, their watercolours, sketches, and drawings are like hidden treasures scattered across the state, waiting to be found—assuming you know where to look, of course.

Join us for a Curatorial Talk at the Albany Town Hall where you'll hear all about the Brierley clan from those who have some interesting personal anecdotes to share. Albany historian Malcolm Traill will host this delightful gathering, and while it's not going to cost you a penny, it promises to be worth every cent. Mark your calendars for Saturday, 16 November 2024, from 10.30am to 12.00pm at 217 York Street, Albany WA 6330 Australia, and come along to soak up some local history without denting your wallet.
