Get ready to chill out, Albany, because the festive season just got a frosty upgrade. From 7 to 12 December, our town square will transform into an ice skating extravaganza, complete with an artificial rink that's all set to turn your summer vibes into a winter wonderland. We'll kick things off at the Christmas Festival & Pageant on Saturday, 7 December, and from then on, you'll be able to glide (or possibly wobble) your way across the ice right in the heart of the CBD.

The rink can host up to 25 skaters at a time, so grab your mates and channel your inner figure skater, or just embrace that awkward penguin shuffle. It's open to kids aged 5 to 16, which means it's a perfect excuse for parents to attempt skating and embarrass their teens. Sessions are free, no bookings required, but make sure you get in line before someone else steals your chance to be the next Olympic champion – or at least the star of your own hilarious ice escapade. The fun starts at 3pm on the 7th and then continues daily from 10am, but beware: those 30-minute slots might just fly by faster than you can say "I fell on my backside."
