Ever wondered what happens when life decides to give you a thoroughly unfair flogging, takes your home, your livelihood, and then, just for kicks, throws in a serious medical diagnosis for your bloke? Well, dives right into that rather epic predicament. It's the story of Ray and Moth, brought to life by the brilliant Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs, who, after being turfed out with no money or hope, decide their best bet is to embark on a casual 630-mile stroll along the southwest English coast. With Moth's terminal neurodegenerative diagnosis looming, is this a desperate dash from their problems, or perhaps the world's most scenic, and slightly unhinged, final adventure?
This film is an adaptation of Raynor Winn's real-life memoir, and it marks the film debut of Tony Award-winning director Marianne Elliott. Expect stunning coastal backdrops as our protagonists grapple with both the challenging elements and their even more challenging inner turmoil. You can catch this captivating flick for free at the Albany Public Library Meeting Rooms on Monday, 11 August 2025, from 1:30pm to 3:25pm. Just remember to register beforehand, because even free events need a bit of a headcount.
